MMATVC UPDATES

MMATV club had our August meeting this morning. We met with the food pantry and donated the money from our Old Home Days ride. They received $1250.00 in Hannaford gift cards. We want to thank all the ATVers who made this possible, as well as all the dealers & shops who donated prizes. The food pantry is in tough times and they appreciated the donation greatly. We also received a thank you letter from the Warren Historical Society for our donation of two picnic tables.
MMATV club needs more ACTIVE members. There were only three of us at the meeting, down from our usual five, which is pretty sad anyhow. Please help us keep going, we can not do it alone. We will be fixing a bad section of trail in September and may need a few more hands. Warren currently has no policeman. This means all trail complaints are coming through club members phones. We are having almost no ATV related complaints,however, dirt bike complaints are driving us crazy. Our September meeting will be the second Saturday @ 10:00am and will be held @ the Pythian Sisters hall right next to Calamity Janes restaraunt. We are going to try to get someone from DRED there to discuss closing the trails to dirt bikes. If you would like to prevent this it would be simple. Travel 10MPH from the town line to the woods past the missile and whenever you are on a town road or near someones home. Secondly, put your stock exhaust back on. The speed, dust and noise are driving abutters and landowners crazy. If you want to be heard, come to the meetings, don't use loud pipes
! We are going to try to put together a safety class this fall, if we can get the help. Date to follow.
In July MMATV club members rode the NHATV clubs Mount Washington ride and a good time was had by all who went. A smaller group rode Jericho & Success trails the following weekend. The state has done a great job up there and every ATVer should check it out. In August we plan on going to New Durham Valley ATV clubs poker run. This is a good time, come check it out.

That's all for now,
Vernon Brigham
President, Mount Moosilauke ATV Club

Other tid bits;

We will be doing a little work on our road crossings to keep the state happy. The Ashworth/Kennepennar owned section of the school house loop trail is closed to dirt bikes. This was not a club choice, but a land owner decision. Last season a dirt biker was ripping it up right in front of him and when confronted by the land owner the operator showed no respect. Please people, don't let this happen. We at MMATV put a lot of time, effort and materials into keeping trails open, please do not ruin it for every one.
A huge thank you to those who stayed off the trails during "mud season"! Follow that with a "what were you thinking?" to those who went riding while the trails were closed. Those of you who rode aggravated private landowners and Bureau of Trails all the while making us look bad. There is now a mini golf course on the southern end of our trail system and our trail dissects it, please go slow and use caution. People will be crossing the trail.

Until Next Time,
Vernon Brigham
President, MMATV Club
